Robotics Engineer
Location: Metro Detroit, MI (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
About the Opportunity
Brooksource is partnering with a global automotive manufacturer to hire a Robotics Engineer supporting a large-scale Factory of the Future automation initiative. This facility is making significant investments in advanced manufacturing, with the goal of automating material handling, production, packaging, and other key manufacturing processes.
This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role where you'll own automation projects from concept through commissioning. We're looking for engineers who enjoy building new automation solutions, integrating robotic systems, and seeing projects through to production launch—not just maintaining existing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead robotic automation projects from concept, design, and integration through commissioning and production launch.
- Program, integrate, and troubleshoot industrial robotic systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Integrate robots with PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, sensors, and other automation equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and assist with controls integration.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Materials, and Maintenance teams throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with contractors and equipment vendors during installations and startup activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by implementing new automation technologies and optimizing manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support during equipment launches and production issues when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in robotics, controls, or industrial automation (3–4 years considered with demonstrated project ownership).
- Proven experience leading and commissioning robotic automation projects from start to finish.
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots such as Universal Robots (UR), FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000, and ladder logic.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and prints.
- Experience integrating robotic systems into manufacturing environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive or other high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Vision system experience (Keyence, Cognex, Sick, Sensopart, or similar).
- Experience commissioning robotic work cells.
- Background in material handling, packaging automation, conveyor systems, or automated assembly.
- Experience supporting Industry 4.0 or smart manufacturing initiatives.

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
