Heart of Ankeny Animal Hospital is looking for a full time experienced Veterinary Technician to join our awesome team! Certification is preferred, but not required.
We are a rapidly growing, full-service veterinary hospital and boarding facility in Ankeny, Iowa. We currently have 2 full-time doctors and are looking to add a 3rd. Are you the one we're looking for to expand our amazing team?
Our technicians are the heart of our veterinary hospital. We are looking for someone who can fully utilize their technical skills, and work to create a lasting relationship with our clients and their pets. (Not to mention, all of our staff is pretty awesome to work with too!)
Veterinary Technician job responsibilities include:
-Great communication with clients and staff, and a team-player mentality
-Thorough knowledge regarding canine/feline veterinary medicine
-Ability to draw blood and place IV catheters
-Obtain accurate medical histories
-Proper canine/feline restraint
-Collect lab samples and prepare for in-house and outside testing
-Perform radiographs, and send out radiograph/ultrasound consults
-Care for hospitalized and critical patients, and administer a variety of treatments
-Create and fill patient prescriptions and calculate medications
-Therapeutic laser administration (must pass certification)
-Thorough documention via electronic medical records
-Ability to prep, induce, and carefully monitor surgical patients
-Ability to perform canine/feline dental cleanings and oral radiographs
-Perform necessary hospital cleaning/maintenance
-Willingness to answer phones and schedule appointments when needed
Hours Scheduled Are:
Regularly scheduled shifts Monday-Friday with rotating Saturdays
