About the Role
Houston Deck and Shade is looking for a skilled and professional Stain & Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.
This is a career opportunity — not just a job. You’ll work on beautiful outdoor projects across Houston, performing staining, washing, and repairs on decks, pergolas, and pavilions.
The ideal candidate has experience in painting, staining, or finish work, and takes pride in a clean, polished final result. A background in sales or customer communication is a plus, as you’ll have opportunities to earn commissions on upsells (stain upgrades, small repairs, outdoor furniture, low voltage lighting).
What You’ll Do
- Stain and seal decks, pergolas, and outdoor structures
- Perform repairs, wash-downs, and maintenance services
- Communicate with customers professionally and politely on site
- Identify potential upgrades and service opportunities
- Maintain clean vehicles, tools, and a professional appearance
- Work safely and efficiently as part of a field team

- Pay: $18–$20/hr (DOE)
- Hours: 40–60 hours per week (consistent, year-round work)

Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Reliable transportation to shop daily
- Experience in painting, staining, or exterior finish work
- Customer-friendly attitude and professional appearance
- Must enjoy working outdoors in varying conditions
Schedule
- Monday–Friday (occasional Saturday as needed)
- Based in the Houston area — daily fieldwork on residential and light commercial projects
