Position Summary
The Food Service Manager (DFAC Manager) is responsible for the overall management, administration, and performance of a military Dining Facility (DFAC) at Fort Benning. This position oversees all food service operations, including personnel management, food production, customer service, quality assurance, inventory control, and compliance with military, company, health, and safety regulations. The DFAC Manager ensures efficient operations while maintaining exceptional standards of food quality, sanitation, and customer satisfaction in support of mission readiness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the dining facility, ensuring efficient and effective food service delivery.
- Supervise and lead food service personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, military regulations, company policies, and food safety standards.
- Monitor food preparation, serving procedures, portion control, and menu execution to ensure quality and consistency.
- Conduct routine inspections of dining, kitchen, storage, and receiving areas to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering processes, receiving procedures, and stock rotation to minimize waste and control costs.
- Oversee labor scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining budgetary goals.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports, production records, inventory logs, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with government representatives, leadership, and support personnel regarding operational requirements and customer concerns.
- Investigate and resolve customer service issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure all employees receive required training and maintain necessary certifications.
- Enforce workplace safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA, HACCP, and ServSafe standards.
- Lead corrective actions resulting from inspections, audits, and operational assessments.
- Support emergency feeding operations and contingency plans as required.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of food service management experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a high-volume dining environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required installation access and security credentials.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience managing military dining facilities (DFAC), institutional food service, correctional food service, healthcare food service, or other large-scale operations.
- ServSafe Manager Certification.
- Experience working under government service contracts.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in kitchen and food production environments with exposure to heat, noise, and commercial equipment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and early morning shifts as operationally required.
