Position Summary
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Staff Associate I to support environmental epidemiology research focused on climate change, public health, and equity.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Staff Associate I contributes to the implementation and execution of research projects by conducting data management and preliminary analyses using established methodologies. The incumbent supports the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and grant materials and contributes to the dissemination of research findings.
Working under the direction of the PI, the Staff Associate I applies established research methods and sound professional judgment to advance project objectives, automate data workflows, and support high performance computing services for lab use.
Responsibilities
Research and Data Analysis
- Conduct data management, cleaning, and preliminary quantitative and/or qualitative analyses using established statistical and computational methods for environmental climate data.
- Establish reliable pipelines for working on high-capacity and high-throughput computing
- Assist SPARK Lab NYC with organizing code and GitHub repos
- Build interactive data dashboards
- Apply established analytical workflows to support environmental epidemiology and climate-health research projects.
- Prepare tables, figures, and data summaries for use in manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
Data and Research Infrastructure Support
- Maintain research datasets, documentation, and analytical workflows to support organization, reproducibility, and accessibility of research outputs.
- Support automation of data workflows for multiple datasets.
- Writing documentation about usage of large, complex datasets.
Other Duties
- Perform related duties as assigned in support of research objectives.
