Principal Functions of the Position:
This position is responsible for overseeing the development, documentation, and implementation of all processes, procedures, and systems used in the manufacturability of various product designs from conceptualization through production runs, as well as coordinating similar activities for redesigns, updates, and/or improvements to existing products, prioritizing safety.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating all documentation and safety notes needed for production procedures and processes, providing 2D & 3D CAD support at all levels of manufacturing, implementing safe, efficient technology-based procedures, and assisting with part modifications and new part setup.
A critical function of this position will be supporting continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and safety initiatives in all areas and disciplines within the facility.
This position will require that an individual can effectively communicate with managers, peers, and co-workers at all levels within the organization while ensuring that products are manufactured to optimum performance standards with minimal waste. This would include verbal, written, and recorded communications with design engineering, tooling, prototyping, manufacturing (production), quality assurance, planning and scheduling, transportation, procurement, inventory management, product support, and sales departments.
This person must be able to encourage and promote lean concepts while providing the means for employees at all levels within the operation to give input, share ideas, raise questions, and help make informed business decisions for continually improving programs, procedures, and systems involved in all manufacturing processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and documentation in implementing lean and safe manufacturing programs, processes, and procedures.
- Provide direction in implementing plantwide technology advancements and continuous improvement projects to support all areas of manufacturing while including data and reports.
- Provide directions in implementing required design specifications for new and existing products.
- Assist in all areas of manufacturing, as needed, on a daily basis.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
- Hearing protection, eye protection, and steel-toe shoes
Pre- Requisitions:
- A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Process, or Mechanical Engineering, and/or other related discipline.
- Candidates with an associate degree in a related discipline and 5 years or more applicable work experience in one or more phases of manufacturing, industrial, and/or process engineering can be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
- Prior experience working with manufacturing processes, procedures, and product flow.
- Prior experience working with and implementing continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Mfg.).
- Prior experience working with fabrication, forming, welding, coating, and assembly processes.
- Prior experience working with robotics and other technologies.
- Prior experience working with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or other technological software programs.
- Prior experience working with MRP / ERP planning and scheduling processes and procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, & Power Point.
- Proficiency in written, verbal, presentation, and telephone communications skills
- Prior experience working with the use and calibration of inspection tools/instruments and other hand tools.
- Prior experience working with implementing quality assurance programs and procedures.
- Prior experience working with new product design and development
- Prior experience working with product tooling, fixtures, and prototyping.
- Prior experience working with sampling and inspection of products.
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
