Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our Early Childhood School's team. The ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greeting children and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each day.
- Responsible for communicating and works closely with the Lead Teacher to maintain classroom management.
- Completes all necessary documentation of incidents, accidents and communications.
- Is available for activities outside of the typical work hours, such as programs, Family Fun Nights and ministry work.
- Maintains a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and washing hands, and assures the well-being and safety of all the children in that environment.
- Provides for the physical safety of each child from arrival time until departure time.
- Observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and reports these signs immediately to the nurse or center director.
- Attends all training opportunities and staff meetings as provided, scheduled and necessary.
- Works a twelve-month schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred one year of experience in early childhood program.
- Must have 45 hours course from DCF.
- Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for infant and Toddlers Caregivers or equivalent credential or must obtain the credential within one year of employment.
- Must pass Federal and National backgrounds.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
Environment:
Essential physical requirements:
- Standing, walking, sitting on floor, bending, comfortably lifting up to 50 lbs. Playing with children.
