Position Summary
Parr Brown Gee & Loveless is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the firm's accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of its financial processes. The Controller serves as the firm's senior accounting leader, partnering with the Director of Operations and firm leadership to provide financial insight, strengthen internal controls, and support sound business decisions.
This is a full-time, in-person position at our office located in downtown Salt Lake City.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Oversee the firm's accounting functions, such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, trust accounting, payroll, and cash management.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, prepare audit-ready financial records, and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during the annual audit.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis:
- Assist with the firm's annual budget and financial forecasting.
- Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to firm leadership.
Systems & Internal Controls:
- Act as the main administrator for the firm’s financial management system (SurePoint), identifying opportunities to enhance accounting processes and reporting.
- Develop and uphold accounting policies and internal controls to ensure financial compliance.
Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and the Director of Operations to support the firm's financial objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services organization.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, payroll accounting and processing, trust accounting, and internal controls.
- Familiarity with payroll processing systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with SurePoint and NetDocuments is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to develop staff and foster effective working relationships.
Compensation & Benefits
Parr Brown Gee & Loveless offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and life insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan with generous firm contributions; paid time off; and an annual bonus.
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
