Commercial Roof Laborer – Flat Roof Installation

Position Summary: We are looking for a dependable Commercial Roof Laborer to join our roofing crew. This position supports the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial low-slope roofing systems. THIS IS NOT A SHINGLE ROOFING POSITION. Work will focus on flat roof systems such as TPO, EPDM, & PVC, including insulation, flashing, and related commercial roofing materials.
Responsibilities
· Assist with installing commercial flat and low-slope roofing systems.
· Load, unload, carry, and stage roofing materials, tools, insulation, membrane rolls, fasteners, adhesives, and equipment.
· Prepare roof surfaces by cleaning debris, removing old roofing materials, and setting up work areas.
· Assist with laying insulation, cover board, vapor barriers, and roofing membranes under the direction of lead roofers.
· Help measure, cut, position, fasten, glue, weld, or seal roofing materials as directed.
· Assist with installing flashing, drains, edge metal, coping, pitch pans, sealants, and waterproofing details.
· Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely and properly.
· Maintain clean and organized job sites, including debris removal and end-of-day cleanup.
· Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and fall protection requirements.
· Work as part of a crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Qualifications
· Commercial roofing, construction, or general labor experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
· Experience with flat roof systems such as TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing, or coatings is a plus.
· Must be comfortable working on various height roofs, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
· Ability to follow directions, work safely, and communicate well with crew members and supervisors.
· Reliable transportation to the shop or job site required.
· Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license preferred.
· OSHA 10 or 30, fall protection training, lift certification, or other safety training is a plus but not mandatory for application.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds or more.
· Ability to bend, kneel, climb, stand, walk, and work at heights for extended periods.
· Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and other weather conditions.
· Must be able to use personal protective equipment and follow fall protection requirements at all times.
