American Traveler is hiring an Outpatient Surgery RN for a 13-week assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active CA RN license.

Acute care hospital setting in the Outpatient Surgery department
-
Day shift schedule (5x8 hours), with staggered start times between 0600 and 0830 depending on daily assignment area
-
Flexibility required to accommodate variable daily start times
-
PACU-assigned nurses are expected to stay until the end of the day's cases
-
No shift relief provided in Outpatient Surgery
-
May be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
-
Covers pre/post-op, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery areas
-
Cases include ophthalmology, ENT, general, GYN, ortho, plastics, podiatry, urology, vascular, and endo/laparoscopic surgeries
-
Anesthesia types include general, local, conscious sedation, MAC, and nerve blocks
-
Active CA RN license required
-
Compact license must be in hand at time of submission

Minimum 1 year of Outpatient Surgery RN experience required

BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
-
Epic EMR experience preferred

Pending license accepted

Responsibilities include pre-op assessment and education, discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and post-op follow-up calls
-
Perform 12-lead EKG/ECG and manage pre/post-operative procedures
-
Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol, RASS scoring, and pain assessment/management required
-
Experience with insulin and hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols may be needed
-
Must be comfortable managing pediatric patients as part of caseload
-
Scrub color is scrubs or business casual

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront

Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
-
Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
