Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking dependable and service-minded Custodians to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming school environments for students and staff. In this role, you will clean classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas; perform floor care and carpet cleaning; remove trash; maintain school grounds; assist with basic building maintenance; support building security by locking and unlocking facilities; and help move supplies, equipment, and furniture as needed. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys staying active throughout the day, and understands the important role a clean and healthy school environment plays in student success.
We're looking for someone who:

Has custodial, housekeeping, environmental services, or facilities experience

Has experience in a school, healthcare facility, commercial building, or similar environment preferred

Is a self-starter who takes initiative without constant supervision

Is dependable, reliable, and looking for long-term stability and growth

Has a strong work ethic and takes pride in maintaining high standards

Understands that providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment directly impacts student outcomes

Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude

High School Diploma or GED

Up to three (3) months of custodial, housekeeping, or related experience

School, healthcare, or commercial custodial experience

Basic maintenance knowledge

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and performing custodial tasks throughout the workday.
