The Paramedic I/II position provides advanced emergency medical services and rescue response in a fast-paced, high-risk environment under general supervision. Assigned to a 48-hour on/96-hour off schedule, incumbents work closely with a partner to deliver Basic and Advanced Life Support care in accordance with California State and ICEMA protocols.
This role responds to a wide variety of emergencies, including medical incidents, traffic collisions, fire ground operations, and backcountry rescues requiring travel by foot, vehicle, or helicopter. Responsibilities include patient assessment and treatment, extrication, participation in technical rescues (including over-the-side and ice rescue), and coordination with partner agencies such as law enforcement, fire departments, and search and rescue teams. Incumbents must operate effectively in hazardous conditions including inclement weather, road closures, and avalanche risk. Additional duties include accurate and timely completion of electronic patient care records, equipment and vehicle maintenance, and participation in public outreach, training, and interagency activities.
