Warehouse Receiving & Data Entry Specialist
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM+ OT as needed
Overtime: Required as needed during peak seasons and periods of high operational volume
About the Position
This position is responsible for accurately receiving and documenting incoming cargo, entering shipment information into our warehouse system, and ensuring that the physical cargo matches the information provided in the shipment documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and process Warehouse Receipts (WR) accurately and efficiently.
- Enter and maintain shipment and receiving information in the warehouse management system.
- Verify physical cargo against shipment information, labels, and supporting documentation.
- Inspect incoming cargo for visible damage, discrepancies, or other issues.
- Take photographs of cargo when required and document detailed receiving notes.
- Identify and report discrepancies between physical cargo and shipment documentation.
- Identify cargo requiring special handling or additional attention, including:
- Dangerous Goods (DG)
- Temperature-sensitive cargo
- High-value cargo
- Other special-handling shipments
- Escalate damaged cargo, discrepancies, documentation issues, and special handling requirements to the appropriate team members.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers, warehouse personnel, and other departments.
- Maintain accurate and organized receiving records.
- Follow established warehouse, safety, security, and quality-control procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse receiving activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform additional warehouse and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, receiving, logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation experience preferred.
- Strong data entry and computer skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents and cargo information.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and communicate issues promptly.
- Comfortable working in both an office/computer environment and a warehouse environment.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team member.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work in a warehouse environment for extended periods.
- Ability to work additional hours and overtime when operationally required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift experience
- Dangerous Goods (DG) / Hazmat training or certification.
- Previous freight forwarding or cargo-handling experience.
- Experience working with a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Experience processing warehouse receipts, bills of lading, or other shipping documentation.
