Technical Sales Representative
Houston, TX | Full-Time, On-Site
We are an established Houston-based distributor of replacement components for heavy construction and earthmoving equipment, serving contractors and heavy industry customers across the greater Houston market. Company name and full details provided upon interview.
About the Role
This is a counter-based technical sales role for someone who already knows the products, speaks the language of heavy equipment parts, and wants to grow into a senior position at a focused, growing business. You will be the primary point of contact for customer orders, quotes, and daily operations.
This is not an entry-level role. The right candidate is coming out of an industrial parts distributor, heavy equipment dealer, or comparable distribution environment; someone who wants to plant roots and grow with a business rather than carry a quota for a large company.
The business has an aggressive goal to grow and expand, meaning the right candidate will have a fast-track path to a management role as the team scales.
What You'll Do
Counter Sales & Order Processing
- Handle phone, email, and walk-in customer orders
- Create and process invoices; stage orders for pickup or delivery
- Process payments and manage outbound invoice batch daily
Quoting & Customer Service
- Respond to quote requests; develop judgment on complex quotes with the owner
- Source pricing from supplier portals to build competitive estimates
- Follow up on open quotes, confirm POs, and manage order status with customers
- Learn the cross-reference and fitment database to match parts to equipment independently
Supplier Order Management
- Run weekly reorder reports and flag items before stockouts occur
- Track inbound shipments and coordinate receiving with warehouse staff
What You'll Need
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment parts, wear components, or comparable industrial distribution, you know the products and can match them to equipment
- Experience working a counter, taking phone orders, and processing invoices in an industrial or equipment distribution environment
- Detail-oriented: you catch discrepancies and take ownership of accuracy
- Strong customer service instincts; accurate, responsive, and direct with customers on lead times, availability, and pricing
Nice to Have
- Experience cross-referencing parts across brands
- Familiarity with freight and LTL coordination in a distribution environment
- Existing relationships in the Houston construction or heavy equipment dealer community
Growth
This role is designed to grow. In the near term you own the counter and order flow. As you build product knowledge and customer relationships, you take on progressively more quoting and supplier coordination. The right person will have a genuine fast-track path to a senior operations or management title within the first year.
