In this full-time role, you’ll be the lead coordinator for Adult Programming, focusing on planning and implementing programs that meet the needs of our diverse and vibrant community. We are looking for a librarian with strong organization and communication skills who is collaborative and creative.

About This Role:

Plans and implements engaging and community-oriented programs for adults. Includes keeping track of budgets, coordinating program schedules and marketing materials, working with outside vendors, and keeping program statistics.

Assists patrons with library services, including reference inquiries, circulation tasks, and reader’s advisory.

Promotes library services and resources both in the branch and at outreach events.

Assists patrons with basic technology, including (but not limited to) public computers, personal computers, personal devices, email and internet help, copying, scanning, and printing assistance, use of library hotspots and other library issued technology.

Maintains an assigned section of the adult collection, evaluating items for weeding and rebalancing according to system policy.

Serves as a passport agent if eligible.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in library or information science
Preferences:

Public library experience
-
Experience in the development and planning of programs for all ages

Experience in budget preparation and tracking

Experience with collection management, including weeding and rebalancing a floating collection

Experience in providing technology training to patrons, including (but not limited to) with public computers, personal computers, personal devices, email and internet help, copying, scanning, and printing.

Experience in assisting patrons with library digital resources.
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule: This is a full time, exempt position located at the Haymarket Gainesville Library. Staff are currently scheduled during the following hours: Monday-Wednesday 9:00am to 8:00pm and Thursday-Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm. The schedule for this position will include days, one evening per week, and rotating Saturdays. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library. Flexibility is a must.
Starting Salary Range:
$65,910-$79,408
