School Teacher Job Goal:
To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts skills and behaviors that
contributes to the development of mature, able and responsible members of society.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of a S. Degree in the area of instructional responsibility required.
2. Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certification in the area of instructional
responsibility
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
1. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty
to which assigned.
2. Knowledge of student academic growth and development applicable to the grade level
3. Knowledge of school's program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.
4. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
5. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on system and state courses of study and the needs
and abilities of students.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents and peers.
7. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
8. Ability to use and management technology including, but not limited to, e-mail, internet,
Microsoft Office Programs, CD-ROMS, DVDs, videos, etc.
9. If teaching physical education, must possess sufficient strength, dexterity, endurance,
agility and skill to carry out the program of studies to which assigned.
10. If a physical education teacher, some assignments may require sufficient athletic skills to
demonstrate and perform appropriate athletic techniques at both the beginning and advanced.
11. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed.
12. Knowledge and understanding of the Board's policies and The Board's policy manual is located in
the school office, library and the Greene County Schools webpage.
Essential Functions:
1. Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student
outcomes.
2. Develops and implements a program of instruction that meets the individual needs and abilities
of students and is consistent with system and state courses of study.
3. Plans and implements a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities
which serve the needs and capabilities of the students.
4. Manages the behavior of learners in the classroom and participates in the management of
student behavior in other parts of the school.
5. Communicates to students and parents (either in writing or verbally) the instructional
expectations, student progress or lack of progress.
6. Continually assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation
documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
7. Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in planning effective
instructional goals, objectives, methods and curriculum.
8. Participates in professional growth and development activities including staff meetings,
in-services and staff development activities as required or assigned.
9. Ensures that the classroom and/or instructional environment are attractive, healthful, safe
and generally conducive to learning.
10. Ensures confidentiality of all students' records, grades, performance and all other related
matters.
11. Maintains a valid Alabama professional teaching certificate and is responsible for the renewal
of the certificate.
12. Attends work and arrives/departs work at the appropriate times as determined by the immediate
supervisor.
13. Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences in a timely manner.
14. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy Manual,
Alabama Teacher Tenure Act and the Board's Salary Schedule-Teachers.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's
policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
