We are seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Project Manager to lead municipal and commercial landscape construction projects from contract award through project completion. This role is responsible for delivering safe, profitable, high-quality projects while building strong relationships with customers, general contractors, design professionals, and internal teams.
Position Summary
The Landscape Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing multiple commercial and municipal landscape construction projects. This position oversees project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, procurement, customer communication, and financial performance while supporting field operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who communicates well, solves problems proactively, and enjoys working closely with both customers and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage multiple commercial and municipal landscape construction projects from award through closeout.
- Develop project execution plans and construction schedules.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and internal planning meetings.
- Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed.
- Identify and resolve project issues before they impact schedule or budget.
Client & Contract Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings and represent MD Property Services professionally.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Build strong client relationships through consistent communication and follow-through.
Financial Management
- Manage project budgets and profitability.
- Review job costs and production reports regularly.
- Forecast labor, material, and subcontractor costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve project margins.
- Review billing and pay applications to ensure timely invoicing.
- Ensure change orders are documented, approved, and billed promptly.
Field Leadership
- Support field superintendents and foremen throughout each project.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure crews have the resources needed for success.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits.
- Help remove obstacles that impact production or quality.
- Coach team members while promoting accountability and collaboration.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure projects meet company quality standards and contract requirements.
- Support company safety initiatives and jobsite compliance.
- Coordinate inspections, punch lists, warranty work, and project closeout activities.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience managing commercial or municipal landscape construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, scheduling, and project administration.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong financial management and job costing skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Landscape Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with Aspire construction management software.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar project management platforms.
- Experience managing public works or municipal projects.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, grading, concrete, hardscape, and landscape installation.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
