Position Summary
The Molecular Lab Technician performs routine laboratory testing at the bench, following standard operating procedures to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality results. This role focuses on hands-on testing and does not carry supervisory, workflow-coordination, or CLIA General Supervisor responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine specimen processing, including accessioning, extraction, amplification, and PCR testing

Conduct data review and result reporting per SOPs

Perform basic troubleshooting of instruments and assays, escalating complex issues as needed

Follow QA/QC procedures and document results accurately

Participate in competency assessments

Ensure proper specimen handling and chain of custody

Monitor personal supply usage and flag shortages to a lead or supervisor

Maintain compliance with SOPs and documentation standards
Decision-Making Authority

Follow assigned bench tasks and workflow priorities set by lead/supervisor

Flag quality concerns and hold results for review when necessary

Escalate testing or instrument issues to the Lead Technician or Lab Supervisor
Qualifications

Meets CLIA high-complexity testing personnel requirements

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, OR equivalent
-
0–2 years of clinical laboratory experience (molecular preferred)

Familiarity with PCR workflows preferred

Willingness to learn and follow established protocols
