Kindred Church is a growing, contemporary United Methodist congregation in Durham, North Carolina. We exist to embrace people with the inclusive love of Jesus and help them take their next steps of faith. We are a church that is deeply rooted in Scripture and the historic Christian faith while also being fully LGBT+ affirming and welcoming. We believe these commitments are not in tension, and we are passionate about helping more people discover a church community where they can experience both meaningful faith and authentic belonging. We are seeking a part-time Communications Coordinator to help expand Kindred’s reach through clear, compelling, and consistent communication. This role will play a key part in helping more people in the Triangle discover Kindred and take their first steps toward engagement with our church.
Role Summary
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for executing Kindred Church’s communications with a primary focus on expanding the church’s outward-facing digital presence. This role ensures that Kindred’s website, social media, and public-facing communication clearly and compellingly communicate the church’s mission and message in order to increase awareness and support growth in newcomer worship attendance. The Communications Coordinator also supports internal communication through weekly email communication, announcements, and other congregational communication needs.
Responsibilities:
External Communications & Digital Presence
- Maintain and update church website content
- Implement SEO updates based on guidance from external specialists
- Coordinate social media content with contracted partners
- Maintain Google Business Profile
- Publish blog and resource content
- Monitor website and social media analytics at a high level
Internal Communications
- Draft and distribute weekly church email/newsletter
- Support church-wide announcements and communication
- Maintain consistency across communication channels
Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with website/SEO contractor
- Coordinate with social media contractor
- Communicate priorities and timelines
- Ensure communication aligns with Kindred’s voice and standards
Light Systems Support
- Utilize Planning Center and related communication tools
- Create and maintain forms as needed
- Support communication workflows

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
