About Velada
Velada is a sophisticated craft cocktail lounge located inside the AC Hotel Denver RiNo. Designed to become a neighborhood destination, Velada offers thoughtfully crafted cocktails alongside an elevated menu of Spanish-inspired tapas, small plates, and shareable dishes.
We are looking for knowledgeable, experienced, and hospitality-driven mixologists to join our opening team and help create a memorable bar experience for hotel guests and the RiNo community.
Position Overview
The Mixologist is responsible for preparing high-quality craft cocktails, providing knowledgeable and engaging service, and maintaining the standards and atmosphere of Velada. The ideal candidate has previous bartending experience, a strong understanding of spirits and cocktail techniques, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
This position requires someone who can confidently guide guests through the cocktail and food menus, execute recipes consistently, and contribute to an elevated yet approachable lounge environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve craft cocktails, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Maintain a strong understanding of spirits, classic cocktails, modern cocktail techniques, wine, beer, and menu ingredients.
- Explain and recommend Velada’s tapas, small plates, and shareable dishes.
- Deliver attentive, professional, and engaging guest service.
- Accurately enter orders and process payments through the point-of-sale system.
- Complete opening, closing, stocking, and side-work responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar throughout each shift.
- Prepare garnishes, syrups, juices, infusions, and other cocktail ingredients as assigned.
- Monitor product levels and communicate restocking or inventory needs to management.
- Follow all recipes, portion standards, sanitation procedures, and responsible alcohol-service requirements.
- Work collaboratively with bartenders, servers, culinary staff, and hotel leadership.
- Assist in creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat business from both local guests and hotel visitors.
Qualifications
- Previous professional bartending experience is required.
- Craft cocktail or high-volume upscale bar experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktail preparation, classic recipes, and proper bar techniques.
- Ability to learn and consistently execute detailed cocktail recipes.
- Excellent communication and guest-service skills.
- Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
- Ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Must meet all state and local requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, or move items commonly used in bar operations.
