SUMMARY: Walker Products is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to source and procure materials, components, supplies, equipment, and services that support manufacturing operations. The Buyer ensures timely delivery of quality materials, maintains supplier relationships, manages purchase orders, and supports inventory levels to meet production requirements while achieving cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review purchase requisitions and inventory requirements.
- Issue RFQs and evaluate supplier quotations.
- Create and manage purchase orders in the ERP system.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms.
- Monitor supplier performance and expedite critical orders.
- Coordinate with Planning, Production, Engineering, Receiving, Quality, and Accounts Payable.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data.
- Resolve supplier quality, pricing, and delivery issues.
- Analyze inventory levels and support replenishment planning.
- Identify cost savings and continuous improvement opportunities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain confidentiality of supplier information.
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Assist with audits and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing preferred.
- ERP experience required; Epicor preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
