Lead the Team. Own the Operation. Make the Event Happen.
Looking for a hands-on leadership position where you can make a real impact every day?
Join the Operations Team at the Fredericksburg Convention Center, where we host conventions, trade shows, weddings, banquets, concerts, and special events throughout the year.
As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the team and making sure events are ready, organized, professional, and completed on time.
This is a working leadership position.
When you are the supervisor on duty, you own the operation.
We are looking for someone who can take a floorplan, understand what needs to happen, organize the team, keep employees productive, solve problems, and make sure the finished event meets our standards—without needing to be told what to do every step of the way.
What You'll Do
Lead Event Operations
- Review floorplans, event requirements, schedules, and operational needs.
- Organize and direct the Operations Team to complete setups accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure event spaces are fully prepared before guests arrive.
- Monitor progress throughout the shift and adjust assignments as needed.
- Complete event refreshes and turnovers with strong attention to detail.
- Conduct final walkthroughs and correct incomplete or missed details.
- Respond to changing event needs and solve operational problems.
- Ensure breakdowns and post-event responsibilities are completed properly.
- Take ownership of the event from setup through completion.
Lead & Develop Your Team
- Get to know your employees and understand their individual strengths, skills, and areas for development.
- Assign employees strategically based on their skills while helping team members develop new ones.
- Keep employees productive throughout their entire shift.
- Create and assign productive projects during downtime.
- Motivate employees and maintain a positive, professional team environment.
- Give clear direction and set expectations.
- Recognize strong performance and address performance issues when necessary.
- Coach employees and help develop future leaders.
- Be confident speaking up, making decisions, and leading when something needs to be addressed.
- Build positive working relationships with employees while maintaining appropriate accountability and professional standards.
Facility & Guest Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and event-ready facility.
- Assist with cleaning, maintenance, painting, landscaping, equipment organization, and other facility projects when needed.
- Train and/or become qualified to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, pallet jacks, and other operational equipment.
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and security procedures.
- Set building alarms and complete closing procedures when assigned.
- Greet and assist customers and provide a professional first point of contact.
- Maintain professional working relationships with clients, vendors, employees, and management.

- Knows how to keep a team productive without constant direction from management.
- Can identify productive work when there is downtime.
- Enjoys working with people and knows how to motivate different personalities.
- Is comfortable giving direction and holding employees accountable.
- Maintains a positive attitude during stressful or fast-paced events.
- Can make decisions and solve problems independently.
- Notices details and takes pride in completing work correctly.
- Leads by example and is willing to work alongside the team.
- Communicates professionally with employees, customers, vendors, and management.
- Understands that successful events require both speed and attention to detail.
- Is dependable, punctual, flexible, and willing to step up when the operation needs additional support.
