Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care for animals in a kennel environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle various breeds and sizes of dogs. As a Kennel Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of our furry guests.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a sanitary environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management or veterinary staff.
- Assist with administering medications as directed by veterinary professionals.
- Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist with animal handling and cleaning tasks.
- Support dog training initiatives by reinforcing positive behaviors as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for both pets and their owners.
Qualifications
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
- Previous experience in animal care or related fields such as veterinary assistant or pet sitting is preferred.
- Strong animal handling skills with an understanding of various dog breeds and temperaments, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and engage in physical activities throughout the workday.
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and team members.
- Knowledge of basic pet grooming techniques is a plus.
- Experience in dog training or behavior management is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
