New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organized Director of Operations to oversee the planning, execution, and operational success of a diverse portfolio of events and departments. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader who thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor venue where no two days are the same.
From nationally recognized motorsports events to festivals, mud runs, car shows, concerts, and community events, you'll play a key leadership role in creating exceptional guest experiences while supporting the daily operations of one of the country's premier motorsports facilities.
Responsibilities
The Director of Operations will work closely with senior leadership to plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of venue operations, including:
- Lead operational planning and execution for off-track events including festivals, mud runs, car shows, concerts, charity events, and special events.
- Provide operational oversight and support for Karting, Security, Food & Beverage, Marketing, Guest Services, and Event Management teams.
- Develop event operating plans, site layouts, staffing plans, and logistics.
- Coordinate vendors, contractors, public safety agencies, and event partners.
- Manage event setup, execution, and breakdown while maintaining the highest standards of safety and guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Marketing to ensure operational readiness for promotions and special events.
- Work with Food & Beverage leadership to support successful event operations.
- Ensure security staffing and emergency response plans are properly executed.
- Assist with budgeting, scheduling, purchasing, and departmental planning.
- Continuously improve operational procedures and efficiencies across the property.
- Lead cross-functional meetings and communicate effectively with multiple departments.
- Support race weekends and large-scale motorsports events as operational needs require.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on professionalism and customer service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, Event Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of operations management experience in an outdoor venue, motorsports facility, sports complex, festival, entertainment venue, amusement park, or similar environment.
- Experience managing large public events and coordinating multiple operational departments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during event weekends.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor environment in varying weather conditions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and operational planning software.
