GB Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead production planning, scheduling, and production control activities in our manufacturing facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring efficient production schedules, material availability, inventory accuracy, and on time customer delivery while supporting safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Production Planning Manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Operations to optimize manufacturing performance and lead a team of planning professionals.
Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, maintain, and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery requirements.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to plan production based on customer orders and forecasts.
- Create, release, and maintain shop orders with accurate routing, sequencing, and lead times.
- Analyze production capacity, labor availability, tooling, and equipment to maximize efficiency.
- Expedite work orders and adjust schedules to accommodate changing customer priorities.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Manage and improve the cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Maintain integrity of production data, shop orders, and documentation.
- Coordinate material flow throughout the manufacturing process.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Operations regarding production schedules.
- Coordinate outside processing activities and ensure timely movement of materials to and from vendors.
- Schedule company transportation for inbound materials and outbound finished goods.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to five planners or planning associates.
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the planning function.
Safety & Quality
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Reinforce quality standards throughout planning and scheduling processes.
- Support compliance with company policies and manufacturing procedures.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and process optimization.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Three to five years of production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or manufacturing operations experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Experience with inventory control and cycle counting.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- APICS or CPIM certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Primarily seated work with frequent walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Occasional standing and light lifting up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment
This position works in both an office and manufacturing environment. Moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to moving mechanical equipment are expected.
