Title: Accounting Manager

Job Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role plays a key part in contributing to and controlling the monthly close process, account reconciliations, cash management, accounts payable oversight, and maintenance of the general ledger. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including recent experience within an operating company environment managing core accounting functions. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Month-End Close Leadership: Lead preparation of journal entries, maintain supporting schedules, and assist with the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.

General Ledger and Account Reconciliations: Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all accounts are properly supported and reconciled on a timely basis.

Cash & Treasury Management: Perform daily and monthly cash management activities, including bank reconciliations, cash account analysis including weekly cash forecasting, and monitoring of liquidity.

Accounts Payable Oversight: Support and oversee accounts payable processes to ensure invoices are accurately coded, approved, and processed in a timely manner. Assist with vendor management, payment processing, and resolution of vendor inquiries.

Audit and Controls Ownership: Lead preparation of annual financial audit, tax filings, and other compliance-related activities. Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documentation requested by external auditors and other stakeholders.

Financial Analysis and Process Improvement: Analyze financial data and accounting transactions to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements. Participate in initiatives to enhance accounting controls, efficiency, and reporting accuracy.

Systems and Accounting Technology: Utilize accounting and financial systems to maintain accurate records and reporting. Support system enhancements, process automation initiatives, and accounting workflow improvements. Experience with Sage Intacct is highly preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience; 6+ years preferred.

At least 3 years of recent experience in an in-house accounting role within an operating company, with leadership responsibility in the accounting function.

Strong experience with month-end close, journal entry responsibilities, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Experience overseeing or managing accounts payable processes.

CPA strongly preferred but not required.

Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred.

Experience with healthcare services organizations is a plus but not required.

Working Conditions:

Typical office environment with regular business hours: 4 days per week in office strongly preferred.
