Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Tile Installer to join our construction team. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise tile installation crews, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow on-site
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to accurately execute tile layouts and designs
- Measure dimensions precisely using tape measures and other hand tools to ensure accurate tile placement
- Oversee preparation of surfaces, including leveling, waterproofing, and surface repairs prior to tile installation
- Utilize power tools and hand tools safely and effectively for cutting, shaping, and installing tiles
- Ensure all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications
- Coordinate with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry teams to facilitate seamless project progress
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the project to maintain high standards of craftsmanship
- Manage material procurement, including ordering tiles, adhesives, grout, and other necessary supplies
- Train and mentor junior installers to develop their skills in tile masonry, layout techniques, and safety practices
Skills
- Extensive experience in tile laying and masonry work with a strong understanding of construction processes
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, construction plans, schematics, and technical drawings
- Skilled in using hand tools (e.g., trowels, levels) and power tools (e.g., wet saws, drills) for precise installation
- Knowledge of construction management principles and estimating techniques for project planning
- Familiarity with construction inspection procedures to ensure quality control
- Experience with related trades such as drywall installation, plastering, roofing, or flooring is a plus
- Ability to interpret dimensional measurements accurately for complex layouts
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively on busy job sites
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate professionally with clients and project stakeholders
- Capable of working at heights using ladders safely during gutter or roof tile installations
- Knowledge of building materials including concrete forming, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco, glass installation, cabinet installation, door hanging, and restoration work
