Join Stanwood Camano Food Bank in a full-time temporary opportunity supporting our team during an employee parental leave. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our mission while serving in a defined-term assignment scheduled to end September 30, 2026.
The Food Outreach Coordinator plays a key support role for the Food Bank to assure our organization and its mission, programs and services are consistently presented in a sustainable, dependable, and equitable manner to relevant stakeholders.
The Food Outreach Coordinator will regularly interact with donors, fellow nonprofit collaborators and community stakeholders, facilitating food drives and client-focused communication. They will assist with day-to-day receiving, inventory management, stocking, and resource distribution. The Coordinator will also facilitate our Meals ‘til Monday, Little Free Pantry, Unhoused Support, and A Simple Gesture programs. They will engage with staff and volunteers on a regular basis, and will help maintain a high quality, collaborative, fun and engaging workplace environment.
This position requires a positive attitude, a desire to work as efficiently as possible, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The environment is fast paced while interacting with diverse personalities. The position also requires some schedule flexibility as well as weekend work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- In partnership with Operations staff, coordinate and facilitate the major food drives in our community including but not limited to: Fill the Bus, Postal Carriers Food Drive, A Simple Gesture (ASG), Holiday Food Drives. Embrace new opportunities to bring in new partners and/or goods to support and enhance our programs and client families.
- In partnership with the Operations Manager and the ASG volunteer team, coordinate all communication and logistics for bi-monthly food drive utilizing systems including Textedly, MailChimp, and route planning software. Oversee the continued growth and operation of this vital donation program.
- Assist with development and facilitation of client-focused communication strategies and program outreach. Represent the organization and its mission, programs and services at relevant tabling and community events, such as Stanwood Farmers Market and National Night Out. Assist with writing client-focused articles for various publications including SCNews, Crab Cracker, Chamber of Commerce Newsletter, etc. regarding available service offerings
- Develop, distribute and collect client impact data via establishment of a client survey system. Collate data in digestible format for stakeholders and management to use for assessing program effectiveness.
- In partnership with the Operations staff, organize and support volunteers for set up and break down on distribution days. Operate intake software (Food Bank Manager) for client check-in on.
- Interface with volunteers and clients under fast-moving conditions, and provide de-escalation intervention when necessary.
- Assist with the development of Unhoused Support Program, and interact with unhoused clients on a regular basis. Ensure that the unhoused food and supply section is well stocked prior to and during distributions. Implement equitable distribution guidelines of program offerings for staff and volunteers.
- Answer phone calls and field questions from volunteers, clients, donors and all others. Effectively partner with the Operations Manager and other team members to determine resource procurement strategy and assist in the coordination of pickup and delivery of product. Perform administrative duties as required.
- Participate in cross-training, learning other areas of the organization including the thrift store to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of operations, as necessary.
Skills & Qualifications

- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Energetic, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail and a high degree of initiative.
- Highly collaborative style, relationship builder, self-starter, able to work independently.
- Strong knowledge of social media sites. Comfortable learning and utilizing a variety of software systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Typing speed minimum 50 WPM.
- Exceptional written & verbal communication, including negotiation and conflict resolution/de-escalation. Comfortable speaking and presenting to groups. Priority given to Spanish speaking applicants.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices.
- Strong organizational, project management, time management, and problem solving skills. Effectively complete multiple tasks with accuracy despite frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to embrace change. Capable of understanding & applying new information, procedures or principles to perform job duties.
- Ability to work long hours & weekends when needed. Embrace a “next person up” culture where sustainable and dependable service to those who rely on the organization is key.
- Must be comfortable operating equipment and non-CDL box trucks/large vans. Must pass a WA State background check prior to starting employment.
Schedule and Working Conditions
- Primary schedule will be Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8-4:30.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent contact with the public in a fast-paced and changing work environment, which, at times, maybe a little stressful.
- Willingness to attend training programs and to upgrade skills as needed. Ensure smooth, professional, and efficient operations.
- Take an active role in problem-solving and implementing solutions as needed for facility, grounds, and equipment.
- Must be able to lift 30 – 50 pounds repetitively unassisted.
Stanwood-Camano Food Bank Services Overview
Stanwood-Camano Food Bank Services (SCFBS), established in 1984, works to alleviate hunger and meet the basic needs of individuals and families in our community. With support from generous donors, SCFBS serves over 1,500 community members each week through food distribution and essential resources. Programs include senior food distribution, a weekend food program for local students, Warm Coats for Kids, and Holiday House. SCFBS also operates the Stanwood-Camano Thrift Store, whose proceeds directly support the organization’s operations.
