Purpose of Position:
The main responsibility of this role is to support the compilation of timely and accurate monthly financial results and other accounting support tasks as needed.
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining all balance sheet account reconciliations, prepare journal entries and maintain monthly journal entry support book, sales tax filings, review and post inventory adjustments, 1099’s at year end and other related duties as assigned.
Essential job functions and responsibilities:
Prepare all bank account reconciliations and clear reconciling items timely.
All balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis; reconciling items cleared within 10 days of month end.
Review and prepare journal entries including write-offs and store inventory adjustments.
Collaborate with team to complete a month end close
Financial reporting
Ad-hoc Analysis (inventory, sales trends, spending variances)
Assist with zero sales control for stores
Submit manufacturer accruals, exchanges, rebates, etc. on a timely basis
Assist AP & AR as a resource and a back-up
Key skills:
Thorough understanding of basic accounting concepts and procedures, reconciliation processes and financial statements
Previous basic accounting experience in a work environment
Excellent organizational skills to work independently, prioritize tasks and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
Excel spreadsheet proficiency and database capabilities
Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
Ability to flex schedule to support business demands (may include occasional OT and/or weekend work)
Must be able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing. Spanish speaking is a plus.
Must be willing to accept new duties as business needs and the role evolve.
Experience/Education:
Associate’s degree in accounting
Bachelor’s degree in business or similar is preferred.
Previous ERP experience required; Sage 100 experience is preferred.
Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform desk/computer work from either a sitting or standing position.
Must be able to bend, stoop, grip, reach and lift up to 25 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
Must be able to walk and stand up to 25% of the workday to perform duties.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
