Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey teams in executing precise land, construction, and hydrographic surveys. Duties
- Lead and supervise survey crews during field operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications
- Operate and troubleshoot digital survey tools, GPS surveying equipment, and mobile devices to collect precise geospatial data
- Conduct field mapping using photogrammetry, LiDAR surveys, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and hydrographic survey techniques
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation using spreadsheets, databases, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D for project records
- Coordinate local driving routes for efficient site access while operating standard passenger cars or service vehicles
- Perform construction surveys by setting benchmarks, leveling techniques, and establishing control points for building projects
- Capture high-quality photographs for documentation purposes and assist in mapping using GIS and CAD software
Experience
- Proven experience in land surveying, construction surveys, or civil engineering projects with a strong understanding of field surveying techniques
- Hands-on experience with GPS surveying technology, LiDAR data collection, and mapping using photogrammetry or GIS platforms like ArcGIS
- Proficiency in drafting with AutoCAD and MicroStation; familiarity with Civil 3D is highly desirable
- Knowledge of hydrographic surveys and the use of digital survey tools for underwater or waterway mapping
- Ability to operate field equipment safely while maintaining accuracy in data collection and reporting
- Experience working on construction sites with a solid understanding of construction processes and safety standards
- Strong skills in spreadsheets, databases, report preparation, and use of mobile devices for real-time data management
