Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our tax team and support tax compliance, planning, and client advisory services. The primary purpose of this role is to prepare federal, state and local tax returns, perform tax research, assist with tax planning engagements, and communicate with clients to deliver accurate, timely and practical tax solutions. The ideal candidate will be technically strong in tax matters, client-focused, and able to collaborate across internal teams including product and sales to ensure tax implications are considered in client offerings.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary federal, state and local tax returns and related schedules accurately and on deadline.

Conduct tax research on technical issues and develop clear, practical recommendations for clients and internal teams.

Assist in tax planning engagements, including projection modeling, entity structuring analysis, and identification of tax-saving opportunities.

Communicate with clients to gather information, explain tax positions, and resolve questions or issues in a professional manner.

Collaborate with product, sales and advisory teams to evaluate tax implications of new products, client engagements, and commercial arrangements.

Ensure compliance with tax laws and firm policies, maintain organized workpapers, and support audit readiness.

Support mentoring and review of junior staff, providing guidance on technical matters and workflow best practices.

Participate in process improvement initiatives and leverage technology to increase efficiency and accuracy of tax workflows.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Tax or Accounting is a plus.

CPA license preferred; active CPA or progress toward CPA strongly desired.

14 years of public accounting or professional tax experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returns.

Strong technical knowledge of federal, state and local tax rules, tax research tools, and tax compliance procedures.

Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, Drake), accounting systems (QuickBooks), and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to interact with clients and cross-functional teams professionally.

Strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred: experience working with or in product management or sales roles, or demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with Product Managers and Sales Executives to align tax strategy with commercial objectives.

Preferred: experience as a Tax Associate in a public accounting firm or in-house tax team and demonstrated client relationship management skills.
