Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and front loader trucks to excavate trenches and move materials efficiently.
- Assist in utility trenching and underground utilities installation for sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and other infrastructure projects.
- Read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings to accurately execute utility system installation projects.
- Locate existing underground utilities using utility locating tools and ensure safe excavation practices in compliance with federal construction safety regulations.
- Perform concrete finishing tasks including forming, pouring, and finishing concrete surfaces for utility structures.
- Conduct welding tasks when necessary for pipe connections or structural repairs following safety standards.
- Use pipe lasers and other precision tools to ensure proper alignment of pipelines and utility systems.
- Support the installation of sanitary drainage systems, stormwater management infrastructure, and related piping systems.
- Follow all safety regulations diligently, including OSHA standards for heavy equipment operation and construction site safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials on-site while adhering to safety procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, forklifts, or front loader trucks is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and experience with underground utilities installation projects is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, construction plans, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with sanitary sewer systems, stormwater infrastructure, piping installation, concrete forming, welding, and plumbing is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of federal construction safety regulations and OSHA standards related to heavy equipment operation and site safety.
- Experience working on underground utility or pipeline projects within the oil & gas or municipal sectors is beneficial.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions; ability to lift heavy materials safely.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; certification in forklift operation or pipeline work is a plus but not mandatory.

Pay: $24.38 - $29.36 per hour
