Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in food prep activities such as slicing, dicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety standards in production and food handling protocols
- Support the kitchen team during busy service hours by efficiently executing meal preparation tasks
- Follow safety standards in production to ensure a safe working environment for all team members
- Aid in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Ensure proper storage of food items, monitor expiration dates, and manage inventory levels effectively
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant environments with a strong understanding of kitchen operations
- Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Familiarity with food safety management systems and adherence to safety standards in production
- Skilled in food handling, meal preparation, catering, and serving processes
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork ethic with effective communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and servers
