Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our vibrant educational community, serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that align with state standards and address each student’s unique needs.
- Design and deliver differentiated lesson plans across core subjects such as literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical education, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology.
- Provide specialized instruction in areas including speech therapy, behavioral therapy, music therapy, and early intervention techniques to support students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, visual impairments, or hearing impairments.
- Manage classroom environments effectively by utilizing classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement.
- Collaborate closely with parents, caregivers, therapists, counselors, and other educators to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s progress.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools and formative evaluations to monitor student achievement and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Facilitate inclusive activities such as recreational therapy, library services, and extracurricular programs to promote social skills and community involvement.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, IEP goals, behavioral data, and communication logs in compliance with district policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education practices, behavioral health strategies, instructional design, and assistive technologies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and individualized instruction techniques.
- Expertise in working with children with disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, hearing or visual impairments.
- Proficiency in learning technology tools used for instructional design and classroom management.
- Experience in speech therapy techniques, behavioral management strategies including applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavioral health interventions.
- Ability to develop curriculum tailored for early childhood education through high school levels using Montessori or preschool methodologies when applicable.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, multidisciplinary teams, and community partners.
- Skilled in lesson planning that integrates literacy education, math instruction, physical education activities, and recreational therapy approaches.
- Competence in tutoring students for standardized testing preparation and academic advising across various subjects.
- Familiarity with assistive devices for visually or hearing-impaired students; knowledge of childhood development principles is essential.
- Demonstrated classroom experience managing diverse learner needs while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages growth and independence. Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
