Relife Materials is seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Sorter for our 2nd Shift. This position is responsible for sorting, separating, inspecting, and preparing various recyclable materials for processing. The Material Sorter will work as part of our warehouse team to ensure materials are handled safely, efficiently, and according to company procedures.
This is a hands-on warehouse position that requires standing for extended periods, lifting materials, maintaining a clean work area, and following all safety and PPE requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Sort and separate recyclable materials by type, condition, and processing requirements.
- Identify and remove unacceptable, contaminated, or non-processable materials.
- Place sorted materials into the appropriate containers, Gaylords, pallets, bins, or designated processing areas.
- Assist with breaking down, organizing, and preparing materials for recycling or further processing.
- Inspect incoming materials and report damaged, leaking, unidentified, or potentially hazardous materials to a supervisor.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment and tools as trained and authorized.
- Assist with weighing, labeling, palletizing, wrapping, and moving materials.
- Keep workstations, sorting areas, and warehouse floors clean and organized.
- Properly dispose of trash, debris, and non-recyclable materials.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Immediately report spills, leaks, injuries, unsafe conditions, or equipment problems to a supervisor.
- Work efficiently to meet daily production and processing goals.
- Assist other warehouse and recycling team members as needed.
- Complete end-of-shift cleanup and ensure materials, tools, and equipment are properly stored.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing, recycling, sorting, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time for the 2nd shift schedule. 3:00pm-11:00pm
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail when identifying and sorting different materials.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn company recycling processes and safety procedures.
Physical Requirements
Employees in this position must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
- Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in a warehouse environment that may be hot or cold depending on seasonal conditions.
- Work around industrial equipment, recyclable materials, dust, noise, and other normal warehouse conditions.
- Wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, safety-toe footwear, and other equipment depending on the assigned task.
Safety Expectations
Safety is an important part of every position at Relife Materials. Material Sorters are expected to follow all established safety procedures, use required PPE, properly handle materials, and immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, leaks, or damaged containers.
