Position Summary
The Seasonal Flag Football Coach leads our C-Team for the assigned season and may, at times, support Coaches on our other teams. We are looking for a coach who believes youth sports are more than winning games. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young athletes, building confidence, and creating a positive, supportive, fun environment while representing our school community with pride. This position is responsible for planning practices, managing games, communicating with students and parents regarding practice and games, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment. The Coach acts as a mentor, prioritizing safety, sportsmanship, and skill development for students of mixed ability levels.
Core Responsibilities
- Coaching: Facilitates safe, energetic practices and manages games. Differentiates instruction to support beginners while challenging experienced players.
- SEL & Culture: Integrates Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into athletics. Enforces strict standards of sportsmanship, respect for teammates, respecting the competing teams’ players, coaches, parents and referees, and promotes team cohesion.
- Communication: Communicates professionally and appropriately in all in-person, email, and other forms of communications with school colleagues and team parents. Handles all concerns professionally and promptly brings concerns or issues to the attention of the Upper School Head.
- Safety: Prioritizes student safety on and off the football field. Supervises students continuously until released to an authorized guardian. Ensures equipment is safe and stored properly. Adheres to all school policies and practices regarding the safety of students and best practices for supervising students.
Logistics & Travel
- Transportation: The Coach is responsible for their own transportation to the designated work location (home campus or away games).
- Student Transport: Strictly Prohibited. The Coach may never transport a student in a personal vehicle or any other vehicle.
- Timekeeping: Using system approved by the school, accurately records all working time, including practices, games, planning, training, and travel between work sites (e.g., driving from school to an away game).
Compliance & Professional Conduct
- Policies: Adheres strictly to the Staff Handbook and Staff-Student Boundaries Policy regarding professional conduct, social media usage, and communication.
- Breaks: Takes all legally mandated rest and meal breaks as outlined in the Staff Handbook and required by law. Informs supervisor of any issue preventing them from taking mandated rest and meal breaks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience coaching youth Flag Football or prior athlete in this sport
- High School Graduate age 18 or older
- College degree preferred
- Available weekday afternoons – Monday through Thursday
- Ability to attend off-site games
Pre-Employment Contingencies:
- Successful clearance of DOJ/FBI Live Scan, Mandated Reporter Training, and TB Test or Waiver.
- Presentation of valid Driver’s License and proof of Auto Insurance (required for travel to away games).
- Provision of documentation documenting eligibility to work legally in the United States.
Onboarding (To be completed within 4 weeks), with school support:
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
Concussion Awareness Training.
Pay: $25.10 - $35.00 per hour
