Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support in Nephrology clinic. This position requires a compassionate individual who is committed to enhancing the patient experience while ensuring efficient operations within the clinic or hospital environment.
Duties
- Answer phone calls and/or direct calls/phone messages to appropriate person.
- Prepare patient chart, patient’s room for examination and room patient.
- Greet patients when they arrive at the office and provide them with any necessary paperwork or other necessary information.
- Interview patients to complete chart history, take and record vital signs.
- Schedule and/or re-schedule patients’ appointments.
- Maintain patients/ confidentiality and must be educated in HIPAA regulations.
- Assist patients with re-scheduling appointments and other scheduling issues
- Explain treatment procedure, medications, diets or physician’s instruction to the patient and /or family member.
- Assist MD in making patient’s referral to other heath care provider/specialist and follow up referral notes.
- Assist MD in facilitating drug refill authorization and providing prescription information to pharmacies.
- Contact the dialysis center or other medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for test or admission.
- Collect co-pays and other fees required prior to the office visit or treatment
- Direct patients to the laboratory department for scheduled blood work and other testing
- Verify insurance coverage and assist the billing department with processing claims.
- Communicate test results to patients when directed by physicians.
- Transport and assist the physician in performing clinic activities for two medical office locations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
