The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring the products meet company standards within our high-mix, low-volume precision machining environment. This includes in-process and final inspection, parts receiving, staging, and organizational tasks. An understanding of machining processes, GD&T knowledge, blueprint reading and critical thinking skills are key components to being successful in this position.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Verify conformance, organize, and manage workflow according to order dates and routing details.
· Dimensional and visual inspection of machined and fabricated parts.
· Follow established procedures to verify specified dimensions of product or material using a variety of standard inspection tools, such as thread and dial bore gages, OD & ID micrometers, gage blocks & pins, scales, indicators, and calipers.
· Gage setup such as dial bore gages, height stands, and gage block stands.
· Follow company standardized SOPs for staging, receiving, and NCMRs.
· Document and communicate non-conformance errors for both in-house out-sourced parts with direct supervisor.
· Keyence CMM operation.
· Receiving and staging of parts for outside sources and processes.
· In-process staging.
· Delivery of finished items to shipping and receiving department staging area by means of carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
Qualifications
· Able to read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances of both machined and fabricated parts.
· Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, dial bore gages, indicators, depth gages, and height gages. Keyence CMM operation and programming are a plus but not required.
· Understanding of decimal place values and equivalents. Will be expected to check conformance on items with tolerance’s up to the 4th (.0000) decimal place.
· Keen attention to detail.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Possess basic computer skills with a means to document conformance issues and communicate effectively through email.
· Demonstrates high productivity using good planning.
· Applicant should have good organizational skills and a means to work independently.
· Good understanding of surface finishes and weld symbols.
· Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and the ability to verify conformance.
· Basic shop math knowledge.
· Forklift experience.
· Comfortable standing and walking for long periods of time.
