EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Responds to customer inquiries about building permits and related processes in order to guide applicants through requirements and application submission.

Greets, listens to, and assists walk-in customers at the counter in order to build positive relationships and provide answers to questions about building permitting.

Verifies contractor licenses, insurance, and bonds in order to ensure legal compliance before permit issuance.

Issues permits promptly upon satisfaction of all requirements in order to meet service-level goals.

Computes charges for building permits using standardized fee tables and formulas.

Balances daily cash transactions and reconciles payments before close of business in order to maintain financial accuracy.
- Receives and logs inspection requests and updates in order to schedule inspections in a timely manner.

Uses standard office equipment (e.g., computer, scanner, copier, phone) in order to process documents and support office operations.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENT(S) ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AND ACHIEVE 70% OR HIGHER IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE LIST.

ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. We will use the list to fill vacancies in Public Works as they occur.

Please fill out the application completely. Provide relevant job experience including employer's name and address, job title, beginning and ending dates, number of hours worked per week, and description of work performed.
