Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and dependable Insurance Verification & Billing Specialist to assist and oversee the financial side of our practice. This individual will play a vital role in with our Billing team to ensuring accurate insurance verification, timely claim submission, payment posting, and resolution of billing issues while providing outstanding customer service to clients.
Experience with behavioral health billing and insurance is preferred.
Responsibilities Insurance Verification
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments
- Confirm deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and authorization requirements
- Document benefit information accurately in the electronic health record
- Notify clients of estimated financial responsibility
Medical Billing
- Submit electronic insurance claims
- Monitor claim status
- Correct and resubmit denied or rejected claims
- Appeal denied claims when appropriate
- Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid claims
- Maintain timely accounts receivable
Payment Processing
- Post insurance payments
- Post client payments
- Reconcile daily payment activity
- Process refunds when necessary
- Monitor outstanding balances
Client Financial Support
- Explain insurance benefits and billing questions
- Collect copays and balances
- Establish payment plans when approved
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate client billing records
- Scan and upload insurance documents
- Assist with credentialing documentation as needed
- Communicate with providers regarding billing concerns
- Maintain HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Experience in behavioral health billing
- Experience with SimplePractice (or similar EHR)
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Strong computer skills

Schedule
- Approximately 8–15 hours per week initially
- Flexible weekday schedule, no weekends
- Opportunity for increased hours as practice grows
Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
