Job Overview:
The CDL Aerial Laborer performs manual labor and operates various tools and equipment to construct, maintain, and repair utility infrastructure, primarily working at heights from aerial lifts.
Job Responsibilities:**
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground utility lines, including power and communication systems.
- Operate aerial lifts (bucket trucks) safely and efficiently to perform work at elevated heights.
- Dig trenches, holes, and foundations using hand tools or power equipment.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks.
- Set poles, anchor guys, and install cross-arms and insulators.
- String and sag conductor wires, ensuring proper tension and clearance.
- Climb poles as required to perform duties suchs as framing, tying in, and transferring lines.
- Work with various hand tools and power tools safely and effectively (e.g., drills, saws, wrenches, impact drivers).
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
Job Qualifications:**
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating aerial lifts/bucket trucks is preferred.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs), climb, stoop, bend, and work in confined spaces.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of utility construction practices and terminology.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
