JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Library Director, a Library Clerk provides direct customer service in person, via telephone or email and performs a variety of clerical tasks at the La Paz county Libraries.
Essential Job Functions &
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issuing Library cards, assisting patron with checking out/checking in materials daily.
- Provide basic patron services, offering computer help, printing, and placing holds on materials.
- Shelving books in proper placement
- Must be able to multitask, resolve problems and work with diverse patron base in a fast pace environment.
- Process patron payments, managing and balancing a cash drawer
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Two (2) years’ experience providing customer service
- High School Diploma or GED
- Communicate well, work effectively in a team environment and customer service
Required Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
- Ability to operate office equipment including computer, copy machine, fax, and telephone
- Remain sitting for extended periods
- Perform repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder motion for office work
- Requires visual ability for computer work
- Hearing and speech ability for ordinary conversations and in a group environment
Preferred Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- 1-year experience in library operations
- Be able to work independently
- Exhibits excellent organizational skills
