The Laundry aide is responsible for providing quality laundry services while supporting resident care needs in a skilled nursing facility. This position ensures residents’ clothing, linens, and personal items are properly cleaned, organized, and distributed while maintaining infection control standards and assisting nursing staff as needed.
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident clothing and facility linens.
- Label and organize residents’ personal clothing to prevent loss or mix-ups.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of laundry equipment and work areas.
- Follow all infection control, OSHA, and safety procedures.
- Monitor laundry supplies and report shortages or equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Complete documentation as required by facility policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in laundry services or long-term care preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push laundry carts and supplies.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Compassionate and professional attitude toward elderly and disabled residents.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, detergents, and cleaning chemicals.
