Duties
- Operate loaders, including Caterpillar models, to move materials such as dirt, gravel, and debris around construction sites
- Operate water trucks to control dust and provide water for construction activities, ensuring site safety and compliance with environmental standards
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on all heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes, and water trucks
- Assist with excavation tasks by operating excavators and backhoes to dig trenches or foundations as directed
- Support construction utility work by locating underground utilities using utility locating equipment before digging or trenching
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times to maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to execute grading, site preparation, and utility installation tasks efficiently while adhering to project specifications
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, and water trucks in a construction setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on construction equipment
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation
- Ability to perform construction grading accurately using loaders and excavators
- Skilled in utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities prior to excavation activities
- Valid commercial truck driving license with experience in commercial driving preferred
- Familiarity with construction site protocols, excavation processes, and heavy equipment maintenance practices
- Ability to follow detailed instructions while maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency
