What you’ll do
- Assist clients with ADLs: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating
- Provide safe transfers, mobility support, and walking assistance
- Light housekeeping related to client care (laundry, dishes, tidy-up) & simple meal prep
- Companionship, dementia/Alzheimer’s support, and family communication
- Medication reminders (no medication administration)
Note: Nurse registries do not assign clinical tasks that require a licensed nurse (e.g., wound irrigation, catheter insertion, sterile dressings, administering medications).
Required credentials
- CNA (Florida) license or HHA training (40+ hours) from an approved school
- Current in-person CPR (AHA, Red Cross, or HSI; hands-on skills check)
- ADRD training (per Florida law): 1-hour within 30 days, plus 2-hour follow-up within 7 months if providing personal care
- Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse (AHCA eligibility required). Applicants can learn more about the screening process, requirements, and their rights here: https://info.flclearinghouse.com
- Communicable-disease health statement (within last 6 months, free from communicable diseases)
- Valid driver’s license & insured, reliable transportation
Preferred experience
- Dementia care or prior private-duty caregiving
- Training in safe transfers
- Comfort using smartphone apps/texting for case updates
