In this vital role, you'll assist the dentist with clinical procedures, manage patient interactions, and ensure the smooth operation of daily clinic activities. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including dental x-ray imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix Ascend, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to promote understanding and compliance.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting with patient care from check-in to checkout as a proficient dental receptionist.
- Follow strict infection control protocols including dental instrument processing, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention standards to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Hands-on experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Dentrix Ascend for managing patient records and appointments.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics.
- Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging procedures accurately.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care in pediatric dentistry environments.
Office Hours:
Monday- 8:00-5:00
Tuesday- 8:00- 6:00
Wednesday- 8:00- 5:00
Thursday- 8:00- 1:00
Every other Friday- 8:00- 1:00
Pay: $14.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
