Medical Assistant – Family Medicine

The Opportunity
Catalpa Clinic is a small, independent, fee-for-service family medicine practice in Bremerton. We are adding our first medical assistant to support a growing two-provider team. This role starts part-time over the summer and grows into a full-time position in the fall as the practice expands.

What This Role Is About
- Vaccines and immunizations: Administering vaccines for our patient panel is a core, day-to-day part of this job — especially heading into fall vaccine season — along with helping manage vaccine inventory and patient outreach.
- Hands-on clinical support: Rooming, vitals, specimen collection, and assisting providers during visits and procedures.
- Patient connection: Being a friendly, reliable first point of contact for patients by phone and at check-in.
- Keeping things running: Supporting the front desk and back-office workflow so the practice runs smoothly as we grow.
Position Details
Position Type
W-2 employee. Part-time through the summer, transitioning to full-time in September 2026.
Schedule
Variable part-time hours through the summer (generally 8–24 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, scheduled around clinic days), growing to full-time in September 2026 — 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Compensation
$28–$35 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
Location
On-site at our Bremerton clinic (2528 Wheaton Way, Suite 203).
EMR
Elation Health (training provided).
Patient Population
Established and new primary care patients.
Reports To
Bryan Wooldridge, MD (practice owner).
Start Date
Summer 2026.
What You’ll Do
- Administer vaccines and immunizations under provider order; help manage vaccine inventory and patient immunization outreach.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect and process specimens for in-house and reference lab orders.
- Room patients, obtain vitals, and prepare patients and rooms for visits as needed.
- Assist providers during exams and procedures, including chaperoning.
- Answer, triage, and route patient phone calls and portal messages; support patient communication.
- Support patient check-in, scheduling, and front-desk flow.
- Provide back-office support (prior-authorization follow-up, records, faxes) during busier periods.
- Help keep the clinical space clean, stocked, and compliant.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Medical Director
Schedule & Growth
This position is built to grow with the practice. Through the summer, hours are part-time and variable, Monday through Thursday and scheduled around our clinic days — generally 8 to 24 hours per week, with heavier weeks when a provider is traveling and the clinic needs added coverage.
Perhaps you have obligations at home, or simply want a lighter, less demanding summer before settling into a steadier routine, this on-ramp is designed for you. Summer hours are intentionally light — fewer hours across fewer days. Come September 2026, as our second provider’s schedule fills and vaccine season ramps up, the role grows into an ongoing full-time role: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. And because our clinic runs a four-day week, full-time still means a three-day weekend, every single week.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $28–$35 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
From your first day, as required by Washington law:

Qualifications
Required
- Active Washington medical assistant credential that authorizes vaccine and injection administration — either Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) or Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R). An MA-R credential can be obtained through our practice’s endorsement after hire.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain before start).
- Confidence administering injections and vaccines.
- Reliable, personable, and comfortable serving as a patient-facing first point of contact.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Experience in a small, independent, or primary care practice.
- Familiarity with an electronic medical record (we use Elation; training provided).
