Farmington Public Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education Paraprofessional at our Avon location. This position is full time school year with benefits.
General Description: This position will support special education students in the classroom and on internships sites through modeling, training, fading and data collection.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Professional Assessment).

Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.

Consideration will be given to the following:

Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.

Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness.

Prior experience working with students with physical disabilities preferred.
Qualifications: Skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a high school education and some experience working with children or adults with disabilities, ability to lift up to 40lbs. without assistance and eligible for a public service license.

Job Goal: To support special education students in the classroom and on internships sites through modeling, training, fading and data collection.
Salary: $24.18 - 28.26 per hour/ FPSEU contract, dependant upon experience
Schedule: 6.5 hours paid per day, school year
Location: Avon, CT
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 day work year Follows the Simsbury School Calendar. Work Hours: 6.5 hours per day-plus unpaid 30 minute lunch. Salary negotiated between the collective bargaining agreement between the Farmington FPSEU and the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of non-certified Personnel.
