Job Overview
The Industrial Painter / Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing, priming, painting, and finishing a wide variety of metal products. This position includes surface preparation, masking, washing, sandblasting, coating application, and general paint department support. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare metal parts for painting by cleaning, washing, sanding, grinding, and masking as needed.
- Inspect parts prior to painting to ensure they are clean, damage-free, and ready for coating.
- Operate industrial parts washers and other surface preparation equipment.
- Perform basic setup and operation of paint and spray equipment.
- Mix coatings according to specifications.
- Apply primers and finish coats using industrial spray equipment.
- Remove previous coatings using sandblasting equipment when required.
- Perform touch-up work and minor repairs as needed.
- Load, unload, and move parts using overhead lifting devices and forklifts when necessary.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Read and follow work instructions, paint specifications, and safety procedures.
- Maintain paint equipment by cleaning spray guns and related tools after use.
- Keep the paint department clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate with supervisors and coworkers regarding priorities, quality concerns, and production schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
- Assist with other department duties as assigned.
- Stay caught up with daily production schedules and priorities.
Qualifications
- Previous industrial painting or paint preparation experience preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
- Experience with spray equipment, sanding, masking, or surface preparation is a plus.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Strong safety mindset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for 8–10 hours per shift.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
