Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring patient safety and comfort while maintaining accurate medical documentation.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist to create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Support the dental team with vital signs measurement, medical documentation, and maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment conducive to four-handed dentistry.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray processing, infection control, and aseptic technique.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with specialized treatments in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other dental specialties.
- Certification in radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or medical documentation are advantageous.
